Pacific Shipyards International is Hiring a Process Improvement Manager (Honolulu, HI) Near Honolulu, HI

Position Summary: The Process Improvement Manager will find ways to improve process efficiency while delivering maximum value to our customer base. This qualified candidate will design efficient systems that integrate workers, information, machines, energy, and materials to make products or provide services. Performs under the direction of our Chief Operating Officer.

  • Communicates regularly with Officers, Managers & Supervisors about the different divisions and department’s issues.
  • Consistently be on time for work, meetings and appointments and deliver work projects by assigned due dates.
  • Maintain assigned work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of all assigned equipment.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Meet productivity goals and quality standards as set by management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support safety as a core value.
  • Support “schedule” as the organization’s keystone habit.
  • Work closely with all production, support, and administrative departments.
  • Increase the overall productivity of the company by analyzing department performance utilizing appropriate metrics.
  • Analyzes and designs sequences of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in company facilities and remote jobsites.
  • Establishes methods for maximum utilization of facilities and personnel.
  • Establish or assist in creating accident prevention measures.
  • Manage or assist in training programs for personnel concerning all phases of company operations.
  • Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control and production record systems.
  • Based on these studies, develops, and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.
  • Assist the engineering department in the planning and design of facilities.
  • Maintain and manage company process improvement initiatives.
  • Continually evaluate and prioritize process improvement initiatives, interfacing with Senior Management to ensure the company’s urgent needs are being met.
  • Hire and interface with process improvement consultants, as needed, to enhance and accelerate company initiatives.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on major incidents to identify & correct physical, human, and latent root causes especially for chronic issues.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees at all levels to identify and implement innovative solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in process management to drive organizational success.
  • Provide support for budgeting cycle targeted at delivering year over year savings.
  • Ability to assist & assure production metrics are effective and being implemented.
  • Identify bottlenecks within processes and aid in development of plans to increase production efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Technical Knowledge:
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly.
  • Problem solving/analysis.
  • Ethical Conduct.
  • Good attitude; must be a team player.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial environment in operations and/or maintenance.
Education, Training & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Ship Repair experience preferred.
  • Able to construct and modify project schedules using MS Project, Primavera, etc.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to prepare cost reports and manage project budgets.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and proposal processes.
  • Knowledge of vessels, commercial and for the military, and nautical terminology preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, including NAVSEA, ABS, CG, as well as federal and state regulations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD, Solid Works, Rhinoceros, and GHS preferred.
Qualification/Requirements:
  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States.
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to clearance required for base access.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites.
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification.
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers' license in good standing, class 3 or higher.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift.
